Description
Bison Cave Art : White on pink card
The Creswell Crags Bison Cave Art white on pink (bison) design showcases the Bison, which is found in Church Hole Cave. This art drawing has been incorporated into the design, if you look closely at the design you will discover the repeating pattern of the drawing from the actual cave.
Britain’s only know Ice Age Art is found at Creswell Crags. These engravings are over 13,000 years old, making Church Hole Cave the oldest art gallery in the country. The Bison, Stag and Ibis are the most easily recognised figures.
Church Hole Cave contains one of the most magnificent late Ice Age bovid figures in the world, the Bison. Its head may be partly natural, but the ears and horns have been worked into bas-relief. The shoulder has been engraved with a loop motif.
